Radio
- The headline for a story on the radio should be 1 line.
- The bulletins should be 2 and 5 minute durations usually starting with a headline voice over or voice piece or 2 way with another reporter.
- The reporter should have audio cuts of interviews, press conference, voxpox
- Voice over/ voice piece 20/30 seconds of another journalist report, details, summaries.
News programme
- Often begin with a short headline
- Explore top stories in greater detail
- Additional stories
- Live interviews/ pre recorded
- Outside broadcasts
- Debate, comment, commentary, packages
- A cue which is read by the presenter
- Reporter links to the studio or in a location
- Will include 1 or more interviews
- Voxpox, music, SFX etc.
Magazine programmes
- Narrow or wide ranging- specific remit
- Less likely to include headlines
- Topical x timeless - topical story as the peg on which to hang an otherwise timeless issue (the topic will never be outdated)
Documentaries
- Extended packages or features- particular subject in greater depth.
- Same conventions and types of content, not usually live.
Target Audiences
- Defined by age and social demographic A,B,C1,C2,D,E
- Markets to yourself, commercial needs, big ratings to encourage advertising.
