Remedy Sounds is a solo artist that writes and produces his own music. He plays the guitar to create his own sounds and using a foot pedal to control any backing sounds he may need.
His fashion style very much relates to his urban type of music he plays. It is ‘bright, colorful, comfortable and most importantly different to most artists who follow the trend and all look similar’. His clothing suits him as it is honest and really enables the audience to gain an understanding of his personality and style.
The main thing for him is to be comfortable in the clothing that he wears whilst giving out a memorable image to his fans. He believes ‘it is really important to make a statement as an artist both musically and with your image’.
He tries to choose bright colours when on stage and has a main focus around comic books as this is something he has an interest in. He usually always wears a flat peak cap both on and off stage. Most of these are batman or a different type of comic book character that he believes represents his personality well.
Most of the clothing he has are from usual high street stores and are clothing he has had for years! He makes it clear that he is not a trend follower and would in fact rather set his own retro trend for his fans to follow.
Sweby Apperal is a London based urban clothing company who endorsed Remedy Sounds last year enabling him to have full access to their latest clothing range. This is something that he is looking into further and many smaller clothing companies like to do this to gain exposure through their endorsed artists.
He always wears trainers that are comfortable and easy to slip off for his performances as he likes to go bear foot when on stage. This gives him easy access to his pedals when performing as he has no margin for error when it comes to changing the backing tracks.
It terms of analysing his clothing, I think the style suits his music perfectly. The retro colours along with the flat peak hats and cartoon based guitar are memorable and stylish in terms of his music appearance. The clothing works with his music and doesn’t take attention away from his talent. The chino style trousers are plain but colourful and allow the t-shirts to be more of a statement piece. The only thing I would suggest is he stays away from the low cut style of t-shirt as this suggests a ‘pretty boy’ type, which is not Remedy at all! The flat peaks are also a good cover up for the bald head underneath which is a recent decision I am sure he regrets! Let it grow back Josh, let it grow.
